The Ultimate Escape Room

For this editorial piece, I collaborated with The Bold Italic editorial staff to create an illustration accompanying Irving Ruan’s humorous article “Welcome to Brain: The Ultimate Escape Room.” The illustration—a stylized rendering of a brain—visually mirrors Ruan’s witty exploration of emotional introspection and modern anxieties. Created with brush pen on paper and enhanced with digital colors and layout in Figma, the artwork complements the tone of the article by blending playful surrealism with psychological depth, inviting readers to step inside the “escape room” of their own minds.
